Satellite Symposium "Highlights of Environmental Factors in Hypertension  and Krakow Hypertension Conference"

The Satellite Symposium Highlights of Environmental Factors in Hypertension and Krakow Hypertension Conference to the 34th European Meeting on Hypertension and Cardiovascular Protection in Milan is a scientific event organised by the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) Working Group on Environment in Hypertension, the Krakow Division of the Polish Society of Hypertension and the Department of Cardiology, Interventional Electrocardiology and Hypertension of the Jagiellonian University Medical College.
This is the second time that the event has been held in its current format in Krakow. This year it is supported by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education in Excellence Science II Program.
The program of the symposium includes 5 sessions in English, with a total of over 20 lectures delivered by worldwide recognised experts in both hypertension and environmental problems. We have succeeded in inviting the current and past presidents of the ESH, members of the ESH Scientific Council, and most importantly, scientists who have published their research on environmental influences on cardiovascular morbidity, and in particular on hypertension, in peer-reviewed, high-impact scientific journals. 

The program will include the following topics in thematic sessions:  

• the relationship of diurnal and seasonal variations in blood pressure with various environmental factors,
• different aspects of air pollution as a factor influencing blood pressure, the epidemiology of hypertension and its organ damage,
• environmental noise, including new WHO recommendations for assessing the health weights of noise,
• epidemiological and experimental evidence of noise influence on hypertension
• noise-induced changes in the heart assessed by magnetic resonance imaging
• vulnerable groups for cardiovascular effects of noise
• microplastics and its role in the development of atherosclerosis
• new aspects of environmental pollution in relation to changes in kidney function.

The Polish-language part of the event, the Krakow Hypertension Conference, will comprise three lecture sessions. These sessions will focus on the practical aspects of hypertension management in the context of the current guidelines established by Polish and European scientific societies. Additionally, the most controversial issues in the diagnosis and treatment of hypertension will be presented. These issues will be based on questions posed to consulting hypertensiologists.
